Three Centuries of History to create a Masterpiece

La Fontaine de La Pouyade Cognac is today the property of a fourteenth generation descendant of the Plantevigne-Dubosquet family, established in the Cognac region since the 17th century.

La Fontaine de La Pouyade is the name reserved for outstanding Cognacs selected by as the actual inheritor of a unique know-how transmitted from generation to generation and so designated as a tribute to this source mentioned in a 1713 Act.

Only one quality is produced, at the very top end of the select "niche” of great Cognacs. La Fontaine de La Pouyade is drawn exclusively from the heart of the Cognac region: the Grande Champagne legally classified as Premier Cru

This Cognac is entirely composed of very old Eaux-de-Vie, treasured in demijohns, having once attained their optimum ageing in oak barrels. Every step of the process is meticulously controlled to guarantee that this rare and exceptional quality has reached its peak of refinement and passion.

All the grapes used in the creation of La Fontaine de La Pouyade come solely from the chalky hills of the delineated area of the Grande Champagne - Premier Cru. Here the sun's rays are at their most intense. This small zone furnishes lower yields per hectare than other Crus but, after longer ageing, its Cognacs develop aromas and flavours whose complexity and length are beyond comparison.

The Distillation, year after year, during the winter is performed according to a secret and ancient procedure which will later yield, upon tasting, this large and harmonic palette of spicy perfumes, fruits and flowers like iris and violet so specific to the Grande Champagne.

Before the spring, Cognac begins the ageing process in ancient oak barrels, wrought from the heart wood of the tree, and under the constant and attentive supervision of owners and cellars masters, over a number of generations.

La Fontaine de La Pouyade is presented in a crystal wax sealed decanter finished by hand, a replica of 17th century bottles held by the family, with a 24 carats gilded label, personalized by a unique number engraved in the glass and copied on to a watermarked certificate.

Only a limited number of bottles are available for sale worldwide.
